Ingredients
- Butter
- ½ cup granulated sugar, plus more for baking dish
- 6 large eggs, separated
- 6 ounces semisweet melted chocolate
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Confectioners’ sugar
- A large bowl
- Baking dish
2. Now take a clean baking dish and apply a thin coat of butter to inside it. Now again coat it with granulated sugar and tap it from behind to remove out the excess sugar.
3. Now take a large bowl, whisk egg yolks with granulated sugar until they become light in colour. Now whisk in melted chocolate and set the bowl aside.
4. Take another clean bowl and using an electric mixer on high, beat egg whites with salt until the formation of soft peaks. Whip 1/3 of the egg whites into the chocolate mixture. Add remaining whites and gently fold up with a rubber spatula just until combined. Remember that you do not have to over-mix it.
5. Now put the batter into the baking dish and set it in a roasting pan. Pour enough boiling water into the pan and stop when it comes up to about 1 inch up side of the dish.
6. Bake till it becomes puffy and just set (centre of cake should barely move when jiggled), 25 to 35 minutes.
Now let it cool and sprinkle confectioners’ sugar just before serving.
